Fluid Columns are at the heart of Benoît Barbagli’s new Sine Fine Studio, where biomimicry is the key to formal research. These sculptures emerge from the application of fractal mathematics and algorithms, such as those of Tessendorf, as well as the integration of artificial intelligence processes. These digital tools can be used to model structures that attempt to reflect the complexity and subtlety of forms found in nature.

Among the studio’s creations, Chrysalithe, Aqualithe and Sharplithe are examples of how natural principles can be transcribed into the language of geometry and algorithmics. These works, a synthesis of creativity and calculation, embody a material interpretation of the laws of nature.

The Aqualithes, notable elements in this collection, seek to capture the fluidity inherent in the movement of water. They are designed using fractal equations inspired by the Julia set, simulating organic forms and water flow dynamics.

Their realization relies on methods such as 3D printing and five-axis CNC machining, using materials carefully chosen for their quality and compliance with the studio’s ecological principles. The production process is carefully designed to minimize the environmental footprint, in line with the studio’s commitment to sustainability.
